Summary (Information Security Management ) Essay

Summary (Information Security Management ) - Essay Example To address those risks that are supposed to be unacceptable ISO/IEC 27001 suggests modeling and application of rational and comprehensive suite of information security controls. Comparatively, NSIT lays out on security management by identifying 17 controls organized into three categories: The Management Control section addresses security topics that can be characterized as managerial. The Operational Control section addresses security controls focusing on steps that are, broadly speaking, implemented and executed by people (as opposed to systems). The Technical Control section implicates on security controls that the computer system executes. Main advantage of NSIT document is network-based IDSs, which are usually passive devices that do not interfere with the normal operation of a network, are very secure against attack and even made invisible to many attackers. A major weakness here is, Network-based IDSs may have difficulty processing all packets in a large or busy network therefo re, may fail to recognize an attack launched during periods of high traffic. The scope of NSIT is limited as it lacks, especially in the area of time defined as â€Å"heavy traffic†.

The Enhancement of the Quadruped Robot Essay Example for Free

The Enhancement of the Quadruped Robot Essay 1. A TOY ROCK CLIMBING ROBOT The goal of this thesis was to build a simple toy rock climbing robot, and to explore problems related to grasping, path planning, and robot control. The robot is capable of climbing a wall of pegs either under manual control through a host system and an infrared interface, or on the basis of a set of pre-recorded key frames. In addition, the robot can climb certain peg configurations using a cyclic gait. The robot climbs in an open-loop mode without sensor feedback. All communications are sent through the IR connection, and the tether to the robot consists only of two power wires. 2. MOBILE ROBOT CONTROL USING BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY This thesis gives a working example on how to design and implement a remotely controllable embedded system consisting of two subsystems who are  communicating with each other using Bluetooth Low Energy. The subsystems are a movable peripheral based on the Parallax Sumobot development kit, and Atmel AVR Butterfly, the Texas Instruments CC2540 development kit and a user input interface using the Apple iPhone 4S. 3. NEURO-FUZZY CONTROL OF A ROBOTIC ARM This thesis first outlines the theory, historical background, and application of neural networks and fuzzy logic. The review of neural networks and fuzzy logic is followed by a discussion of the combination of the two technologies neuro-fuzzy techniques. The two tools have been successfully combined to maximize their individual strengths and compensate for shortcomings. A survey is given of previous work done in applying these technologies to control systems. 1. ROBOTIC ARM: A MOUSE CONTROLLED IN HUMAN MODE AND A SELF CONTROLLED IN A.I. MODE The robotic arm is a PIC based prototype that can pick and drop objects from one side to the other side. The robotic arm has a complex mechanism that can carry and grips object. Mouse is used as a controller for it is widely use in the environment especially those who have PC at home. The robotic arm has a degree of freedom because it is composed of servo motors that makes the robotic arm rotates, bend and grips objects. We are also using here the concept of the real time operation, how fast the data being transmitted to the receiver. In every operation that we have done using the optical mouse corresponds a unique movement of the robotic arm. It has also an A.I mode which makes the robotic arm moves by itself. 3 Foreign Literature 1. COOPERATIVE ROBOTICS USING WIRELESS COMMUNICATION On September 12, 2001, in the aftermath of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, mobile robots made their first appearance in an actual human search-and-rescue mission. While fully autonomous robots are not yet practical, mobile robots assisted rescue workers in locating more than two percent of the victims that were discovered. These robots were sent into tiny crevices, used to explore buried rooms with camera vision, and were well accepted by the rescue community. While this was a landmark event for the multi-disciplinary field of robotic search-and-rescue, it also showed the great need for further research and development. Fully autonomous and cooperative robots remain an unrealized goal for researchers worldwide. 2. HUMAN-ROBOT COLLABORATION NASA’s vision for space exploration stresses the cultivation of human†robotic systems (NASA 2004). Fong and Nourbakhsh point out that to reduce human workload, costs, fatigue driven error and risk, intelligent robotic systems will have to be part of mission design. They also observe that scant attention has been paid to joint human†robot teams, and making human†robot collaboration natural and efficient is crucial to future space exploration. 3. A REVIEW OF THE APPLICABILITY OF ROBOTS IN EDUCATION Robots are becoming an integral component of our society and have great potential in being utilized as an educational technology. To promote a deeper understanding of the area, we present a review of the field of robots in education. Several prior ventures in the area are discussed (post-2000) with the help of classification criteria. The dissecting criteria include domain of the learning activity, location of the activity, the role of the robot, types of robots and types of robotic behavior. Our overview shows that robots are primarily used to provide language, science or technology education and that a robot can take on the role of a tutor, tool or peer in the learning activity. 1. WIFI CONTROLLED MOBILE ROBOT The tablet acts as the controller and video monitor, communicates thru wifi via a SMART phone on board (Galaxy Pocket). The smart phone serves as the camera thru IP Webcam and receives UDP packets via a python script running in the background, the received data is transferred to the motor controller via bluetooth so that a cheaper microcontroller can be used rather than using the ADK. 2. ROBOCOP In Manila They call it â€Å"Mac,† or the Mechanical Anti-Terrorist Concept, and it did the inventors and the Philippines proud when it was adjudged the winner in the first World Cup for Computer-Implemented Inventions held recently in China. And the victory is not to be taken for granted since Mac came out on top to win the gold medal among the inventions submitted by 50 countries in the global competition hosted by Suzhou in China. Mac has been placed on active duty at the police department of suburban Makati City in Metro Manila, considered the country’s financial centre as well as home to many of the big multinational companies as well as foreign embassies. Mac was also conferred the rank of police inspector, which is equivalent to a captain in the military. As its name implies, Mac is one a one-armed, two-foot tall bomb disposal â€Å"Robocop† invented by a four-man team, led by Roel John Judilla, the former dean of the mechanical engineering department of the Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the country’s top engineering private schools. The other members include Virgilio Malang of the Filipino Inventors’ Society and MIT senior engineering students Jaylord Jaoud and Kit Mistosamente. After months of fine-tuning, the country’s first bomb disposal robot made its public â€Å"debut† in one of the shopping centres on October 14 as the latest member of the Makati police force. Made of aluminium, fiberglass and engineering plastic, Mac was ordered to examine and retrieve an explosive device that was brought to a bomb disruptor where it was safely detonated. Its ability to approach, anything or anyone was also showcased when it was made to bring a mobile phone to a supposed hostage-taker in order to give the police and the suspect a way to communicate. According to Judilla, Mac is a 100 per cent Filipino invention made from spare parts bought from different electrical shops in Quiapo district in Manila. â€Å"With Mac around, families of members of the Makati police bomb disposal unit will be assured that their loved ones will come home alive,† said a confident Judilla. Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, the Makati police chief, agreed as he emphasised: â€Å"Mac will make our job safer. He will take on assignments which could endanger the lives of our policemen.† 3. FARMER ROBOT MANILA, Philippines — Robots that can take care of an entire rice field, go underwater to provide a view of the reefs and prevent ships from running aground. These robots, which were showcased during the finals of the 12th  Philippine Robotics Olympiad, are all made by high school and elementary students in the Philippines. The Dr. Yangas Colleges Inc. (DYCI) high school team, which created an entire set of robots aimed at taking care of the Banaue Rice Terraces, won first place and is set to defend its championship in the 2013 World Robotics Olympiad in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 15. It also has a robotic arm that can take samples of plants and a weather vane to measure wind speed that sends an alert when it reaches dangerous levels that can adversely affect the plants. USB Security Door Lock 3 Foreign Study 1. DESIGN OF A PC BASED WIRELESS DOOR SECURITY SYSTEM This project is developed by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System, ATMEGA-32 Microcontroller and relay switching circuit to design a PC based Time attendance and Wireless door access system. The main objective of this project is to implement a time attendance system along with a door lock system for secure and reliable applications. The system gives all types of information regarding student registration, in-out track record, attendance details which can be used for future reference. 2. DEVELOPMENT OF SECURITY SYSTEM USING FACIAL RECOGNITION Security is generally a state or feeling of being saved and protected, an assurance that something of value will not be taken. This paper employs two of the emerging artificial intelligence technologies: Facial Recognition and Artificial Neural Networks for developing a secure keyless door where authentication of authorized faces arethe only guarantee for entry. This mechanically built door, with a camera, has an interface with the PC for  capturing and processing images. 3. MICROCONTROLLER-BASED LOCK USING COLOUR SECURITY CODE Nowadays, lock has evolved into the security device that embedded with the microcontroller which is usually named electronic lock. There are several authentication methods for the electronic lock and the password based electronic lock are the most ubiquitous and cheapest among them. However, there are some drawbacks for this type of lock. This color security code lock is designed to overcome those drawbacks. It is a microcontroller based lock which using the color sequence code as password to unlock the system.

The Skills And Qualities Of An Entrepreneur Business Essay

The Skills And Qualities Of An Entrepreneur Business Essay It might be easier to think about the new ideas and might also be easier to develop a business based on the ideas. But it is not easy to take action day in day out continuously when the results were not going in your way. However its proven that often successful entrepreneur displays high level of persistence and commitment. Its what count. Goal Oriented: Entrepreneurs love to set goals and will be satisfied once they reach it. Normal human beings have tendency to find satisfaction in their accomplishments. However they write down the goals and check them daily and review them regularly until they achieve their goals. Decision Making: Ability to make a correct decision is a core skill of an Entrepreneur if they want to be a successful. They make sound decisions where they want to go in to from the experience they have. Decisions include how to proceed with marketing, funding, product production , vendor selection and bunch of other decisions to be made. The key is to be critical and learn from the mistakes rather than avoiding taking decisions. People skills: No matter what kind of business they are in, they are in people business. Even they are in Hair dressing business its the people who decide to use ones services over the competitors. So they should be ready deal with the people. This is the skill every successful entrepreneur has. In business world dealing with dealers, vendors, customers, investors, the press or the employees will make difference between success and failure. Ethics and morals: Ethics and morals are the foundation for very good qualities of entrepreneur. Every entrepreneur must decide what their business stands for and should not stray from their path. Some entrepreneur will shut their doors because money outshines their morals and what they stand for and it will create a bad name for their business. Time Management: Every minute is valuable. This cannot be emphasized enough. This is essential for an entrepreneur to do effective business. Every available should be utilized effectively by learning new skills rather than wasting it. Sales: As an entrepreneur they should figure out what kind of sales they prefer and what product services they offer. If the entrepreneur worked before in retail sales or advertising they have the edge over the others. All entrepreneur will benefit from sales seminar and motivational programs. Introduction about the entrepreneur that I interviewed: Mr.Vasan founder of VDMIE Pvt.Ltd. Graduated as a Computer Engineer from IIT Madras in the year 2006. Like any other people he doesnt want to work for a company, he wanted to do something different from normal. He wanted to make a change in the society by helping people in the form of providing job for them. Hence he started his own company. His first business was creating Smileys and Emoticons for different websites. He named it as Humecons (http://www.humecons.com/HomePage.aspx). He did this business as part time. He knew this business will eventually wont give much of a profit. Soon he started his second venture business called virtual makeover. This business is all about virtually dressing you up through online and you can see yourself whether that particular dress or hair style or even gold ornaments and sun glasses too is suitable is to you or not(http://www.1000lookz.com/). The idea is very simple and the toughest part is making that idea in to reality. He did this with ease. First he started writing codes for different companies who wants too put up their products online for virtual makeup for the end user. As the time went by and also due to the sudden rise of Apple and Android based smart phones made his business more profitable than ever before, reaching more and more users every day. The expected revenue for the year 2011 -2012 is 200,000 USD which is phenomenal for the 3 year old business. His skills and qualities: Persistence: His first business wasnt profitable but he didnt give up easily, he did hang in there thinking new ideas, tweaking his thinking process. Hence he came up with the new business ideas which were an instant success. He attained the outcome for the hard work that he put in during difficult times. He persisted with commitment. Goal Oriented: He set goals for the future, and he knows what he wants to do for the next 5 years. According to that he hired new people for his organization. Due to this quality of his he attained results in terms of profit. If there is no goal he couldnt have achieved this success easily. Decision making: He made lot of decisions which was the difference between success and the failure. He decided to go for cost effective method rather than expensive method. His organization is small with 16 employees but the work they are doing is very big process and they cover huge customer base through different platforms. So due to his decision making skills they are making good profits. People skills: In his line of business the difference between success and failure is how you deal with different people. He is doing well in terms of people skills, because he managed to get the contract with the mobile giants like Google and Apple and different other private vendors. This was made possible because of the quality of his product and usability across different kind of people in different geographical locations. Ethics and morals: He stood for the quality of product rather than any product which gives him the money. For him money comes second, he stood by his morals and ethics till now which was the good sign for a successful entrepreneur. He wants to do good service and product offering rather than false promise. He maintained to do that part well. Time management: Time management is crucial for any kind of business. There are lot of people depend upon the product of yours, if the product is not delivered in time business will get affected. He planned everything in such a way that there wont be a delay in his product completion and distribution. This is also one of his qualities which were crucial for his business. Calculated risk taker: He is not a gambler but then he did take lot of risks but it was well thought and calculated rather than reckless which helped throughout his business career. He went in to software programming business which was well occupied at that time he entered in this business, but he was so sure his product will be preferred among the competitors. Cautiotly optimistic: Every entrepreneur dont have negative frame of mind. He always expected the unexpected and waiting optimistically for his time and he did manage to do well and he got the results after the strings of failure. It is not easy to compete in a market where competition is fierce. His quality of being optimistic made the difference for him. Finance: One of the important parts of business is financing it. He financed his business by doing part time high end consulting job for companies in America. He didnt depend upon investors and bankers for the source of money. Hence he is free from any debts. What did I learn from this interview? I learnt few things from this interview which will come in handy in future when I start my own business. They are How to start a business How to sustain the business How to start a business? I learnt that answer to these questions cannot be explained in a single word. Its a lifelong process and you need commitment and patience and also should be ready for a heart break. Should know what am I doing: Am I going to start a new business or start a business which is already existing, shall I buy into a business or join multi-level marketing or I could go with something I love or something which will make money. There are so many options out there and it is not easy to decide which way to go. But I feel I should do a business which I love because it will give self-satisfaction. 2. What are the things that I need to start business: After deciding what business to go in one has to find out do I have necessary skills, say if one wants to do catering service one should have a good cook, if I want to start a online business I should know basic HTML. I should make a list about what business needs and what I need to achieve success. Then I have to check do I have knowledge and skills if not have to find a way to get it. 3. Financial constraints: This is the basic question where every entrepreneur will ask themselves when they start a business. This will impact a business at start. Say for example if I want to start a restaurant business but I have only 2000$ and couldnt find investors or cant get a bank loan then I have to rethink my entrepreneurship ambitions until financial situation improves. To find out about how much money needed to start a business one has to do complete and honest market research before they start a business and also come up with strong business plan. 4. How much money will I make? The revenue depends upon so many factors and it is really hard to find. Because the estimation often varies and I can ever know until I try it. But having some kind of idea will motivate me to work. So it is recommended to have a high estimate to achieve greatness. 5. Exit Strategy: Having a exit strategy doesnt mean that giving up. It is all about planning and one should know when to say good bye. Exit strategy should tie with objective of the business. One has to decide between selling the company for a sizeable sum or start a new business. Those who dont have exit strategy will struggle to meet the goals that they set for their business. A realistic exit strategy is crucial part of the business plan. How to sustain the business: By maintaining the positive cash flow: This can be done through various safety measures and proper budgeting and also finding out only necessary resources rather buying resources and wasting it. By having a competitive advantage: This can be done by introducing new technology in the business rather using the old time consuming process. First mover advantage: To sustain the business one has to diversify their business by moving to new location and gaining advantage there. Proper Advertising and Marketing: Advertising is one of the important piece of sustainable strategy, without that existence of the company wont reach the people. Hence proper care should be taken to ensure enough money is been divided for marketing and advertising alone. I conclude by saying that the person I interviewed is indeed an entrepreneur and doing legitimate business in Chennai, India. In the process I personally learned a lot about what business is all about and the part of an entrepreneur in it.

Life and Death in Frosts Stopping by Woods and Thomas Do Not Go Gentl

Life and Death in Frost's Stopping by Woods and Thomas' Do Not Go Gentle  Ã‚   Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and Dylan Thomas' "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" reflect deeply on both life and death. Frost interprets death as rest and peace from a hard and deserving life, whereas Thomas depicts death as an early end to an unfulfilled life. Contrary to Thomas's four characters who rage against death because of its premature arrival, Frost's speaker accepts death but is inclined to live for promises; therefore both Frost and Thomas choose life over death, but for conflicting reasons. Robert Frost's deeply-rooted beliefs in nature influence him to view death positively. Through enticing images of solitude and relaxation and peaceful diction, Frost explains why nature and death coincide. Frost makes "mysteries, such as death, resolve into the natural" and suddenly the "mysterious becomes simple" (Nicholl 194). His choice to use "darkest evening of the year" helps to set the mystery surrounding death, but the simplicity of the character and the scenery bring death closer to nature; "suddenly the absolute is brought near, and made almost visible" (Nicholl 194). The individual man encountering woods that are "lovely, dark, and deep" create a contradiction of feelings that intertwine the mystery and simplicity of death. The "dark" and "deep" foreshadow the fears and enigmas of dying. The "lovely" negates the anxiety and demonstrates the excitement and desire to die. Though death seems scary and unknown, it is also wonderful and peaceful to the central character. The tr aveler appears desiring a rest and death is an enchanting choice. With pleasant images as "easy wind and downy flake," the man becomes a... ...ngness" (Roberts 378). Frost?s traveler is faced with a choice of life or death and chooses life not to attain grandeur but to keep promises. Thomas?s four kinds of men maintain the right to fight against death for life, but only because life is too short and greatness is yet to be achieved. Frost induces that death should be embraced because it is synonymous with sleep, whereas Thomas concludes that death should be contested due to its hindrance of achievements, but similarly both Frost and Thomas choose the alternative of life to that of death. The New Form of Presidency and Vice Presidency

With the research that I have gathered I believe Al Gore would pose as a good candidate to serve our country. However I also believe that George W. Bush would serve us well too. So I have come up with an idea that perhaps in the next presidential election there could be a republican and a democrat as running mates. Maybe one could be the vice president and the other the president. I believe that a lot more laws and bills could be passed, and the country could be satisfied as a whole. Maybe the country could even come up with a new form of presidency where there are two presidents and one vice president. Then laws and bills may not be passed without both presidents being in agreement. The vice president would perform the same duties, while the presidents could get twice as much done in half the time. Now if I had to choose on a presidential candidate it would be George W. Bush. I would choose him for two reasons, one for his beliefs on social security and two for his views on education. First off with social security and the way that it is currently heading I believe that there will not be enough money left to fund it for my children or me. Bush believes that it is a promise to our nation. He wants to change it, not for current retirees or those soon approaching it, but for the next generation. To put that money away where it can earn higher interest rates. Now on to Bush†s views on public education. He has already reformed the public schools in Texas, and he wishes to do it all across the country. He wants to offer states the freedom form federal intervention, but receive results in return. Performance checks with also be held annually. With those two reasons alone give me a good enough will to vote for bush. If I were eighteen I would have no trouble when Election Day came.

Bullying and Individual Person

Argumentative Essay on Bullying Bullying is a constant problem in schools today. It starts off with annoying comments, but esculates up to more severe matters. A lot of us have seen it happen, and a lot of us know how it feels. No one likes being bullied. People look at it as ignorant kids, but bullies are truly criminals, stealing other human-beings self-esteem and at times people end their lives. First of all, bullying is a crime, because of the serious effects and impact it can have on a individual person. And once a person has been robbed of their self-esteem they can suffer from mental and physical problems, drop out of school and mabey even comiit suicide. Many people today can still recall them humiliating days at the hands of their class bully, mainly because bullies usually don’t operate alone. They usually sycophantic the person which means(making their victims attempt to win them over or be a personal flunky so they would stop bullying them.Bullies are everywhere in sm all communities, big communities, parks, mall, streets, but most of all bullies are found at school. Bullies gain control over other kids by physical attacks, punching, kicking and choking for instance. Another form of control is emotional attacks like insults, name calling, spreading rumors and threats. Social attacks are a form of bullying that singlr out kids in of groups of others. The horrible events can start for many reasons including jelousy, gender bias or rasicm;it isn’t right. They terrorize and and harass their victims, ripping apart their self-esteem and attacking their insecurities until the unthinkable happen; violence or even tragic. People often think that bullies don’t see the effects of their actions, or that they don’t understand what they are doing to others. The thing is, bullies don’t understand what they are doing. Whether the bullies are kids are adults, they know its wrong. Bullying someone is abuse. What are we to do, send half of Americ ans to jail?Half of American kids wont end up in jail because they have other alternatives. For instance, bullies could be required to do community service, thearopy, or be shown a prison to show them what they future could be. In addition, parents, schools, and kids need to work together. The problems wont resolve on their own. We need to look at the facts of each situation and take the right hand to solve the problems right. We need to stand up to bullies and not them rip us out our self-esteem.Bullies must face some kind of consequence for all the tortur they did. What I would do is take them to Louisiana state prison and let them see what a real bully life is like. When I interviewed a student who got bullied a few times, he said he really didn’t care what happen to the bully, he just wished he wasn’t born. That’s the type of ways some bully victims feel, which is bad. So we got to stop this. I think one good trip to Louisiana state prison would be rally good for each bully we catch. It would show them what a real bully is.
